Investing in your Future

Investing in Your Future Through Prior Learning Assessment Learning occurs in many forms beyond the traditional classroom. Within faith-based higher education, Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) refers to the structured evaluation of knowledge and competencies acquired through ministry service, professional practice, leadership roles, independent study, noncredit training, military or community service, prior licensure or certification, and other documented learning experiences. Trinity International University of Ambassadors Corp. (TIUAC) is a private, faith-based religious institution committed to recognizing demonstrated learning in a manner that is ethical, transparent, and aligned with its Christian mission and educational standards.

Institutional Status, Religious Accreditation, and Ethical Disclosure

TIUAC operates under state religious exemption and is not accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

The institutional recognitions, memberships, and accreditations held by TIUAC are religious in nature and apply specifically to theological, biblical, ministry, and faith-based educational studies. These recognitions affirm alignment with religious education standards and Christian doctrine but do not constitute secular, governmental, or federally recognized academic accreditation.

Degrees awarded by TIUAC are religious degrees, intended for:

  • Faith-based leadership and ministry

  • Religious education and discipleship

  • Community and humanitarian service

  • Vocational and marketplace ministry

They are not intended for professional licensure, state-regulated occupations, or guaranteed academic transfer to regionally accredited institutions.

Purpose of the Prior Learning Assessment Pathway

The Prior Learning Assessment pathway exists to serve individuals who have acquired substantial knowledge and competencies through faith-based, ministerial, professional, or vocational experiences, but who have not previously received formal recognition within a religious academic framework.

PLA evaluates learning outcomes, not life experience alone. Applicants must demonstrate that their learning aligns with TIUAC’s faith-based educational objectives.

Evaluation Process

All PLA applications are reviewed through a structured and ethical internal process, which includes:

  • Formal application and disclosure

  • Submission of verifiable documentation

  • Evaluation by institutional reviewers

  • Determination of eligibility consistent with TIUAC’s religious standards

No degree—earned or honorary—is issued solely on the basis of payment, donation, or participation.

Review timelines vary depending on documentation and internal review schedules. TIUAC does not guarantee instant or same-day degree conferral.

Distinction From Honorary Degrees

The Prior Learning Assessment pathway is separate and distinct from honorary degrees.

  • PLA-based degrees involve documented evaluation of learning

  • Honorary degrees are ceremonial recognitions and carry no academic credit

Applicants are encouraged to review the Honorary Degree Policy for additional clarification.

Commitment to Ethics and Institutional Integrity

TIUAC upholds ethical standards grounded in Christian principles, academic honesty, and institutional accountability. The university prohibits misrepresentation of its accreditation status, degree purpose, or outcomes and requires all students, graduates, and honorees to represent their credentials accurately and responsibly.
