The Restoration Honoree category was established to acknowledge individuals whose journey reflects significant personal growth and restoration, regardless of past hardship or failure. This page outlines the criteria used to evaluate Restoration Honoree candidates.
Purpose of the Restoration Honoree Category
The purpose of this designation is to:

Recognize individuals who have demonstrated genuine, sustained transformation.

Uplift men and women who have rebuilt their lives after adversity or incarceration.

Affirm restored leaders who now serve with integrity and impact.

Highlight testimonies of spiritual renewal, accountability, and growth.

This recognition does not celebrate past mistakes; it celebrates the work God has done in a transformed life.
Eligibility for Restoration Honoree Consideration
Individuals may be considered for Restoration Honoree recognition if they demonstrate:

Documented evidence of transformation and restored integrity.

A lifestyle consistent with Christian principles and moral accountability.

A minimum period of demonstrated stability, change, and positive progression.

Willingness to share their restoration journey in a way that empowers and inspires others (optional or private).

No current involvement in legal, ethical, or behavioral conflicts that contradict TIUA values.

A strong commitment to continued personal growth and responsible living.
Eligibility does not guarantee recognition. TIUA retains full discretion over selection decisions.
Core Criteria for Evaluation
A candidate for Restoration Honoree recognition must meet several of the following criteria:
Demonstrated Transformation
The individual shows clear, consistent changes in behavior, mindset, values, and personal discipline.
Accountability and Responsibility
The individual acknowledges their past, takes responsibility for their actions, and maintains high ethical conduct.
Community or Ministry Service
The individual contributes meaningfully to society through volunteering, mentorship, advocacy, ministry, or community involvement.
Positive Contribution to Others
The individual uses their restored life to help others avoid similar mistakes or to uplift underserved populations.
Consistent Character Development
The individual exhibits integrity, truthfulness, and maturity in everyday living and decision-making.
Spiritual Growth
The individual demonstrates a commitment to spiritual development, faith, and biblical principles.
Impact on Family or Community
The individual has positively influenced family members, peers, organizations, or their broader community.
Alignment with TIUA Values
The individual lives in accordance with TIUA’s mission of education, empowerment, integrity, and Kingdom purpose.
Confidential Internal Review Process
All Restoration Honoree evaluations are handled through TIUA’s confidential review process. This may include:

Personal interviews or written statements

Pastoral or community references

Documentation of service or transformation

Character assessment

Review by TIUA leadership or designated committees
TIUA does not discuss, confirm, or deny the private history or legal background of any individual, consistent with the TIUA Media & Confidentiality Policy.
Honorary Recognition for Restoration Honorees
Restoration Honorees may receive:

An honorary degree (if approved under TIUA Honorary Degree Policy)

A certificate of restoration recognition

Inclusion in a restoration-themed ceremony or program

Opportunities to share inspirational testimony in approved settings

Invitations to participate in re-entry or leadership initiatives
Honorary degrees are symbolic and do not carry academic credit.
Grounds for Reconsideration or Revocation
TIUA may reassess or revoke Restoration Honoree recognition if the individual:

Engages in unethical or illegal behavior

Violates TIUA standards of integrity

Acts in a manner inconsistent with Christian values

Demonstrates conduct harmful to the community or institution
Any such decisions are made privately and never announced publicly.
